Ingredients

2 3/4 cups all purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup white sugar
1/2 cup unsalted butter, chilled cut into pieces
1/2 cup shortening, chilled, cut into pieces
1 egg, lightly beaten
2 teaspoons almond extract

Directions
Preheat oven 325 degrees
Combine flour, soda and salt in a 3 cup sifter, sift ingredients into a medium bowl. Whisk in the sugar. Put mixture into food processor, Add butter and shortening, pulse until dough resembles coarse meal. Remove and return to mixing bowl. Use a rubber spatula, stir in egg and almond extract. mix well.
Use mini scoop and roll between hands. If dough is too soft, refrigerate for 20 minutes. Place balls 3 inches apart on ungreased baking sheet. Top each cookie with a kiss.
Bake 15 to 17 minutes or until light golden.
