    1 15-ounce can garbanzo beans drained (but reserve the liquid)
    2 cloves garlic
    1 tablespoon tahini (sesame paste)
    1 teaspoon salt
    1/2 lemon juice (fresh squeezed)
    1 tablespoon olive oil


In a blender ad the garbanzo beans, garlic cloves, tahini, salt and lemon juice. Pulse until well blended and the paste is smooth. Add the garbanzo liquid while blending until the hummus becomes the correct consistency. Pour into a bowl and drizzle with olive oil.

    This is the same recipe that was taught to me by my aunts they are lebanese. However, I leave out the salt. Very delicious. - 8/14/08

  • Yum! I made this with sprouted garbanzo beans instead and added the water from the sprouting tray. My version turned out a little salty, but we just added more beans. This recipe is delicious and converts well for raw foodists! - 11/16/09

  • Very good - I used a little more garlic and lemon, and added a pinch of cumin seed.

    We love hummus, and it's nice to find a recipe for a small quantity.
