Introduction
This is a great breakfast, in the morning just pop it in the Oven at 375, in 35 min. it's done. Greattoo if you want to cut calories..substitute lighter butter, go with sweetner to replace sugar, and sub EggBeaters for Eggs. Change up the fruit and nuts - Walnuts and Peaches are yummy. Everytime I make this it gets raves and requests for the recipe. Can be made healthier with no loss of taste! Ingredients
-
About 8 slices Italian bread
6 eggs, beaten
About 2/3 cup Half & Half (I use fat free)
2 tsp. Vanilla extract
2 Apples, cored, sliced thin (peeled or un- peeled)
craisins
pecans (or other nuts)
cinnamon
1/2 cup butter
1 c. brown sugar
Directions
In a pot melt butter, stir in brown sugar, stir and heat till syrupy...pour this in a glass 9X13 pan, layer the sliced apples, nuts, craisins over the syrup. Then place bread, sliced or broken to cover apple layer, pour egg mixture over all the bread, sprinkle with cinnamon, and cover with syranwrap or foil tightly, place in refridgerator to sit over night. In the morning preheat oven to 375`, remove syran wrap..I leave foil on for first 25 min...then remove, for the last 10 min or so. Serves 6, but great as left overs! Don't even need additional syrup or butter as the fruited bottom is syrupy!
