Introduction

Easiest homemade soup you'll ever make! Easiest homemade soup you'll ever make!
Number of Servings: 6

Ingredients

1 pound (2-1/2 cups) yellow split peas
1 envelope Lipton Recipe Secrets Onion Soup mix
    6 cups water
    1 teaspoon dried basil
    1 bay leaf

Directions

Pick over and rinse split peas. Put in a 2 quart slow cooker. Add the water, soup mix, basil, and bay leaf. Cook for about 8 hours. When I measured this recipe it made 6-1/2 cups, so it makes about 6 servings, 1 cup each.

Variation: If you don't have the Soup mix, use 1-1/2 teaspoons salt, and either a half cup chopped onion OR 2 tablespoons minced dried onion.
