It's the perfect time of year for this recipe! Sweet potatoes are one of the most delicious (and nutritious!) winter comfort foods, and the warm maple syrup flavor of this dish is the perfect complement to cold weather. Choose medium sweet potatoes with firm, unblemished skins — they'll have the best flavor! It's the perfect time of year for this recipe! Instead of boiling the carrots/sweet potatoes I baked them at 350 until tender. This made the mashing part super easy. Yummy recipe! - 3/4/09

This dish is wonderful and it's not smothered in tons of butter to make it better. Sweet potatoes are so moist on their own you don't need the butter or the calories. My husband and I love it and it goes with chicken, steak, ham, and pork. - 2/24/09

Terrific recipe! There was none left when I prepared it for our last church dinner. I used an electric mixer to fully combine the mashed sweet potatoes and carrots. I added a pinch of cinnamon and, also, I toasted chopped pecans in maple syrup to top the dish. I'll prepare this again - 12/18/09

This was good... though I wish I used cinnamon rather than nutmeg. I did enjoy the simple and quick way of making it :) - 11/7/09
