Super fast to put together, this is a basic scone recipe that is very versatile! Great for breakfast, these keep for several days in the fridge. Ingredients

2 c. whole wheat flour
1-1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. salt
8 T. chilled butter
1/2 c. buttermilk
1 egg, slightly beaten
1-1/2 tsp. vanilla
2/3 c. dried fruit (chopped if need be)
Directions
Sift dry ingredients into a bowl. Cut in butter. Combine wet ingredients; beat slightly and let sit a minute. Stir fruit into flour mixture; add wet ingredients. Stir till soft dough forms. Form into one large round 8-inches across, or form into individual scones. Place on parchment lined baking sheet. Brush tops with a little milk, sprinkle with sugar. Bake at 375 deg. F till scones just turn golden (about 14 minutes).
