    1 1/2 Tablespoons sugar
    1/2 cup shortening
    1/2 teaspoon baking soda

Tips

These biscuits are good with fruit, such as blueberries, strawberries, or other type muffin fruits. You can also use a regular cinnamon roll glaze on the top rather than the cream cheese icing.

Directions

Biscuits:
Sift flour and sugar together and cut in shortening. Add cinnamon. Add soda and dissolved yeast to buttermilk. Add buttermilk mixture to flour mixture. Beat until smooth. Turn out onto a well floured surface. Knead lightly. Roll out to 1/2 inch thickness. Cut with biscuit cutter. Bake 10 to 15 minutes at 450 degrees or until lightly browned. Remove from oven and cover with icing.
Icing:
Cream butter, cream cheese, and vanilla together until smooth. Add powdered sugar slowly a little at a time until all is incorporated. Mix until smooth. Spread on biscuits.
