Ingredients

    1 # lean ground beef
    1/2 cup chopped onion
    1 garlic clove chopped
    1 cup chopped carrot
    1 teaspoon nutmeg
    1 can beef gravy

    Mashed potatoes (6 servings)

Tips

Peas can be added to the ground beef mixture before topping with the mashed potatoes. The mashed potatoes can be topped with grated cheese if desired. Adjust nutritional value for additions. (Note: Instant mashed potatoes don't seem to work well in this recipe)

Directions

Brown the ground beef with the onion, garlic, and carrot. Drain off any fat. Add the can of beef gravy and the nutmeg and continue cooking for 2-3 minutes additional or until gravy is heated through. Place the ground beef mixture in a 8 inch square baking dish and top with the mashed potatoes. Bake in 350 degree oven for 20 to 25 minutes until top is slightly browned.
