Ingredients

    Cake:
    2 cups sugar
    3 cups flour
    2 cups cold water
    2 tsp salt
    2 tsp vanilla
    2 tbsp vinegar
    1 cup vegetable or canola oil
    1/3 cup cocoa
    2 tsp baking soda

    Frosting:
    1 cube butter or margarine
    1/2 cup milk
    3-1/2 tbsp cocoa
    1 tsp vanilla
    1 lb powdered sugar


Directions

For cake:

Combine all ingredients and beat on medium speed with an electric mixer for approximately 2-3 minutes. Pour into a greased and floured 9 x 13-inch baking dish. Bake at 350 degrees for approximately 35-40 minutes or until toothpick comes out clean from center of cake. While cake is still hot, poke holes in it with the handle of a wooden spoon and pour on the frosting. Allow to cool and serve.

Frosting:

Combine butter (or margarine), cocoa and milk in a saucepan. Cook until butter is melted. Stir in powdered sugar and vanilla. Mixture may be a little lumpy. Pour over hot chocolate cake.

Optional: 1 cup of nuts may also be added to frosting but are not included in the calorie count or ingredient list.
