Ingredients

    Ground beef, extra lean, 16 oz (remove)
    Beans, black, 2 cup (remove)
    Beans, red kidney, 1 cup (remove)
    Onions, raw, 3 cup, chopped (remove)
    Garlic, 3 cloves (remove)
    Olive Oil, 2 tbsp (remove)
    Canned Tomatoes, 1 can (remove)
    *Cumin seed, 1 tbsp (remove)
    Chili powder, 1 tbsp (remove)

Tips

You can use canned beans, but drain and rinse to get rid of sodium. Or soak your own dried beans.


Directions

Saute onions gently, then garlic. Add cumin powder and chili powder to sauté pan and brown herbs, then add beef (or omit beef from recipe, or replace with ground turkey) and brown. Use double amount of black beans to red beans. In large pot combine all ingredients, simmer over low heat one hour or more (or cook in slow cooker.
