    2 carrots sliced
    2 onions, sliced
    2 celery stalks with leaves, cut in 1-inch pieces
    1 3 pound whold broiler/fryer chicken
    2 tsp. salt
    1/2 tsp. black pepper
    2 C. water, chicken broth or white wine
    1 tsp. basil
    4 C. chicken broth
    1 10-oz. package "no yolk" noodles, wide
    salt to taste


Makes 16 1-cup servings
Put carrots, onions, and celery in bottom of CROCK-POT. Add whole chicken. Top with salt, pepper, liquid. Sprinkle basil over top. Cover and cook on Low 8 to 10 hours. (High 3 1/2 to 5 hours) Remove chicken and vegetables with spatula from broth (save broth). Remove skin and bones from chicken. Add 4 C. chicken broth to remaining broth, turn CROCK-POT to High and when broth is hot and bubbling, add noodles and chicken. Stir well and cover. Cook 30 to 45 minutes, stirring occasionally.
**Note: I usually put the broth, noodles and chicken in a pot and cook on the stove.
