Ingredients
-
2 apples
1/3 cup brown sugar
1 teaspoon cinnamon
Dash of salt
2 cups old-fashioned (not quick) rolled oats
2 cups milk (I used 2%)
2 cups water
Butter, oil, or non-stick cooking spray
Tips
You can toss in dried fruits before cooking, such as raisins, cranberries, banana slices, blueberries, etc. You can also toss in some chopped walnuts or pecans after cooking (they will lose some texture if added before cooking). Delicious served with a banana sliced on top!
Directions
Coat sides of slow cooker with coconut oil, butter, or non-stick cooking spray
Peel, core, and chop apples, put in bottom of crock pot. Sprinkle over them the brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt. Add the rolled oats, then add the milk and the water. Do not stir.
Turn slow cooker to low, and cook overnight (about 6 to 8 hours). Serve hot with milk or cream as desired.
Serving Size: Makes about 7 3/4-cup servings
