Introduction

Going to the authentic Indian restaurant and trying this dish for the first time, I did not taste any tomatoes in it, but I tasted a lot of sweet and savory spices. This came really close to it. Ingredients

    10 thawed boneless, skinless chicken thighs-fat trimmed/removed
    1/4 cup margarine
    1 can evaporated milk (use skim to reduce fat content, if desired)
    1/4 cup flour, dissolved in 3/4 cup cold water
    *Onion powder, 3 tbsp
    Garlic powder, 3 tbsp
    Turmeric, ground, 1 tbsp
    Cloves, ground, 1 tsp
    Nutmeg, ground, 1 tbsp
    *cumin powder, 1.5 tbsp
    *paprika, smoked, 1 tsp
    Ginger, ground, 1.5 tsp
    Salt, 2.5 tbsp (more or less to taste)
    Cinnamon, ground, 1 tbsp
    Granulated Sugar, .25 cup
    *dry mustard powder, 1 tsp
    Pepper, black, .5 tsp

Tips

*seasoning measurements are completely estimated. Add more or less as desired.
Serve with basmati rice or something.


Directions

In a large pot, melt margarine and place chicken thighs in it. Toss the seasonings over the chicken, and then stir. Let sit covered for five to ten minutes. Add the evaporated milk. Leave uncovered and heat to a boil, stirring often. Add the flour water to thicken the mixture. Let reduce for about 10-15 minutes over medium high heat, stirring often.

Serving Size: Makes about 10 servings with 1/2 cup sauce
