Ingredients
-
Box of healthy small shells pasta (I prefer bertolli's 3x fiber).
8oz container of part skim ricotta
2 cups of milk
1/2 cup of bread crumb
1 large egg white
1/2 cup of grated Parmesan cheese
tsp each of the following: Salt, pepper, garlic, oregano, basil, and parsley
Turkey sausage
8 oz package of reduced fat cheddar, montere, taco or fiesta mix cheese (its really on preference but montere mixes the best) shredded cheese.
3 tbsp butter
Tips
Although really cheesy, this meal is packed with protien and very little sugars. Use a healthy wheat pasta or other type of pasta and always try to go with fat free or low fat alternatives! Enjoy!
Directions
Boil a pot of water for pasta.
Heat frying pan to medium heat with about 1 cup of water. Add sausage and cover. Set timer timer for 10 minutes, turn over, then turn over every 6 minutes until fully cooked.
Place pasta into boiling water, add about 3tbsp of salt to water. Cook until pasta is "al dente (almost cooked but still a little hard).
In a large mixing bowl, combine ricotta, egg white, spices, bread crumb, milk, cheese shreds and parmesan cheese, mix until saucy.
Drain pasta and add butter to moisten. Cool pasta.
Add sauce to pasta, mix.
Chop sausage into bite size pieces and add to mix.
Spread into caserol pan. Top with American cheese or add your own touch to the top to avoid burning the pasta. cook on 325 for 25 minutes.
Enjoy! This is not to be over indulged!
