Ingredients

    3 cups white navy beans dry rinsed
    10 cups water
    1 yellow onion chopped
    3 cloves garlic minced
    2 slices smoked bacon
    1 smoked turkey drumstick
    1 cup rutabega cubed
    1 cup sliced or baby carrots
    1/4 tsp whole black pepper
    1 tsp salt
    1 tsp marjoram
    2 Tbls mustard
    3 small chilli peppers or cayenne pepper

Tips

I use a Technique cooker/oven that allows me to saute and then switch it to slow cooker.


Directions

Rinse and soak navy beans overnight.
Saute onion, olive oil, garlic, and bacon.
Add beans, turkey, rutabega, carrots and water.
Bring to boil and reduce heat to simmer.
Simmer for 4 hours or use slow cooker.
Remove Turkey leg. Debone it and chop the meat.
Return turkey meat to pot.
Add Salt, whole pepper, white pepper, marjoram, mustard and cayenne pepper to taste.
