Introduction

This is a great substitute for cabbage rolls - much less work. Adding rice is optional, without rice the end product is more soupy. Using ground turkey is a good alternative for a lower fat version. Ingredients

    32 oz Ground beef, lean
    1 tbsp Extra Virgin Olive Oil
    1 cup, chopped Onions, raw
    1 clove Garlic
    1 head, small (about 4-1/2" dia) Cabbage, fresh
    4 cup Del Monte Petite Cut Diced Tomatoes
    1 cup Tomato Sauce
    .5 cup (8 fl oz) Water, tap
    1 cup Brown Rice, long grain

Directions

Heat the olive oil in a big skillet using medium heat. Saute the onions until tender and then add the ground beef or turkey and cook until the meat is browned.
Add the garlic (minced) cook an additional minute before adding the remaining ingredients (if you are adding rice, this is the time). Bring to a boil, cover, reduce heat and simmer about 25 minutes or until cabbage is tender and rice is cooked.
