A rich, sweetened quickbread-style dough envelops fesh and fragrant lavender blossoms before being topped off with a warm maple syrup. It's the best breakfast you could dream of! Ingredients

~Dough~
1/4 cup softened butter
2 tbsp brown sugar
1 tbsp vanilla extract
1 tsp lemon juice
3 cups whole wheat pastry flour
1 tbsp baking powder
1/4 tsp salt
1 cup milk
~Filling~
1/4 cup softened butter
4 tbsp fresh lavender flowers
1/2 cup brown sugar
2 Tbsp cinnamon
~Topping~
1/3 cup maple syrup, warmed
Directions
Preheat oven to 350°F, lightly grease 2 baking sheets.
Cream together butter & sugar.
Add lemon juice and vanilla and blend well.
Beat in flour, baking powder and salt until mixture is crumbly.
Make a well in the flour mixture, and mix in milk to form a stiff dough. Do not knead!
Roll out dough 1/2 inch thick on a floured surface in a rectangle.
Spread butter over the dough.
Sprinkle with filling ingredients.
Starting at the wide edge, roll dough into a spiral, sealing the far edge.
Cut evenly into 12 rounds.
Bake for 20 minutes.
Drizzle with maple syrup and serve warm.
