Regular Beer, 1 can or bottle
Black Beans - dry, 0.5 cup
Red Beans - dry, 1.5 cup

Olive Oil, 2 T
Tomato Paste - No Salt Added, 1 can
Hunt's Tomato Sauch - NoSaltAdded, 2 cans
Brown Sugar (40g)
Ground beef, 85% lean, 1#
Onions, raw, .5 cup, chopped
Green Chilies - 1 small can
Bay Leaf
Red Pepper Flakes (1 tsp or more to taste)
Chili Powder (1T or more to taste)
Black Pepper (1T or more to taste)
Directions
Soak beans overnight in beer and 6-7 cups water.

Brown onions in the olive oil, add ground beef and green chilies. When beef is cooked, add tomato paste, tomato sauce, brown sugar and spices. This may be done the night ahead too.

Bring beans to a boil in the beer/water they were soaking in, then simmer until ender (1-1/2 to 2-1/2 hours). Pour off & save excess liquid.

Add meat mixture, and simmer for an hour or so. Add extra liquid back in as needed.

Also good with venison instead of beef.
