Ingredients

    All-purpose flour, 1/3 cup
    Whole Wheat Flour, 1/3 cup
    Granulated Sugar, 1 Tbsp
    Baking Powder, 3/4 tsp
    Baking Soda, 1/4 tsp
    Salt, 1/4 tsp
    Cold Butter, 2 Tbsp
    Buttermilk, lowfat, 1/4 cup
    (or substitute 1/4 cup skim milk with 1/4 tsp lemon or white vinegar in it)

Directions

In a bowl, combine the first six ingredients. Cut in butter until crumbly. Stir in buttermilk just until moistened. Turn onto a floured surface; knead 6-8 times. Pat to 1-in. thickness; cut with a 2-1/2-in. biscuit cutter. Place on a greased baking sheet. Bake at 375 degrees F for 18-20 minutes or until lightly browned. Makes 4 biscuits.
