Ingredients
-
2 cups hot water
1 cup quick oatmeal
2 tablespoons margarine
2 pkg. yeast dissolved in 1/2 cup warm water
1/2 cup honey
1 tablespoon salt
2 1/2 cups white flour
2 1/2 cups whole wheat flour
Add oatmeal to the hot water. Mix then add margarine, honey, & salt. Start mixing in the white flour in the oatmeal mixture until all is added. Next mix in the yeast mixture. Add the wheat flour to all of the above until a soft dough is formed. Knead dough for about 5 minutes and seperate into 2 large loaves and 1 small loaf. Place in greased loaf pan and let rise until dough is doubled.
Directions
Bake at 350 for 27 minutes or until golden brown.
Remove from oven and let cool. When cool slice into about 15 slices for the large loaves and 6 for the small loaf. You can also make this dough ahead and freeze in the loaf sizes. When you want to use them simply take them out of the freezer and let them rise until double. This may take at least 8 hours.
