Ingredients

    1/3 cup dried black beans
    1/3 cup dried great northern beans
    1/3 cup dried red kidney beans
    1/3 cup dried pinto beans
    1/3 cup dried green split peas
    1/3 cup dried yellow split peas
    3 tsp. beef boullion granules
    3 Tbs. dried chives
    1 tsp.dried savory
    1/2 tsp. pepper
    1 bay leaf
    1 can diced stewed tomatoes
    1 tsp. salt

Directions

put beans in pan with 5 cups water. Bring to boil. Boil 3 minutes. Remove from heat and set aside for 1 hour. Drain and rinse beans. Add 9 cups water and seasonings. Cook for 1 1/2 hours. Add tomatoes and salt. Simmer for 20 minutes. Remove bay leaf and serve.

    Very Good
    Great! I substituted vegetable broth for beef boullion and lowered water amount. I also have made with cajun seasoning for a kick, adding onion and garlic as well. - 3/21/08
