Number of Servings: 20

Ingredients

    2 cups Great Norther Beans
    1 Medium onion, diced
    1 cup diced, cooked ham
    or
    1 ham bone w/@ 1 cup of cooked ham remaining on bone (preferred)
    8 cups water
    Salt and Pepper to taste (not more than 3 dashes of either)

Directions

1. Rinse and soak beans overnight in 8 cups of cold water.
2. Drain and sort beans
3. Add 8 cups water
4. Dice and add 1 medium onion
5. Add ham or ham bone
6.. Bring to a rapid boil, then reduce heat to simmer, for about 3 hours.
7. Add salt and pepper for taste

Serve with hot corn bread or hot crusty bread and butter or margerine

    Looks to me like you used 2 cups of cooked beans instead of dry beans. You may need to edit this and get the calories right. - 9/11/07
