Ingredients

6 tbls unsalted butter
1 pound yellow onion
2 pounds zucchini, sliced
2 tsp kosher salt
1 tsp ground black pepper
1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
2 tbls all-purpose flour
1 cup hot milk
3/4 cub fresh bread crumbs
3/4 cub grated Gruyere
Directions
Preheat oven to 400 degrees

Melt the butter in a large saute pan & cook onions over low heat for 20 minutes, or until tender but not browned. Add the zucchini and cook, covered for 10 minutes. Add salt, pepper & nutmet, cook uncovered for 5 more minutes. Stir in the flour. Add hot milk & cook over low heat for a few minutes, until it makes a sauce. Pour the mixture into an 8 x 10 inch baking dish.
Combine the bread crumbs & Gruyere, sprinkle on top of the zucchini mixture. Dot with 1 tablespoon of butter cut into small bits, bake 20 minutes or until bubbly & browned.

i loved this my neighbor gave me her leftovers I just ate them all and don't know how many servings i had! I wish there were a way to know just how much a serving is! - 9/28/09

Since you had leftovers, it would be hard to tell. But when I make this, I cut the 8X10 into 6 pieces before serving.
