Introduction

Whenever we had leftover ham from a holiday or just a good sale at the market, my Hungarian family would make this casserole, which is SO tasty! Whenever we had leftover ham from a holiday or just a good sale at the market, my Hungarian family would make this casserole, which is SO tasty!

Ingredients

1 cooked package of egg noodles (or whatever you have on hand, I've used spirals & spagetthi before - approx 500g)
    150 grams of chopped ham
    1/2 c. Sour Cream
    2 eggs
    3 tbsp butter/lard/margarine divided
    salt & pepper (to taste)

Directions

While you cook the noodles according to package instructions, chop up the ham. I chop it really fine using an electric chopper.

Pre-heat oven to about 350 degrees.

Mix ham with eggs, sour cream, 2 tbsp soft butter, salt & pepper. Using remainder 1 tbsp butter to grease casserole pan, then dust with breadcrumbs (the way you do with flour for a cake pan)

Drain the pasta, add to ham mixture, and mix well

Pour into casserole dish and put into oven for approx 1hour, or until top has some golden color.

Slice into square and serve.

    Very Good
Perfect for Easter dinner leftovers. You could add almost anything to this dish and it would turn out yummy. But I opted for a diced onion sautéed with garlic and dollop of chive cream cheese. Total comfort food. - 3/29/16
