Apart from slightly more butter and sugar, the recipe is indentical to one I have been using for 35 years. It is EXCELLENT. I sometimes substitute some of the plain flour for Oat Bran, too and that is really nice (and improves the fibre content.) - 7/25/09

I usually, in fact nearly always, use wholemeal flour. It gives it a slightly nutty flavour and a bit more oomph

I adore banana cake... this sounds similar to my version too. Also, sometimes adding pineapple pieces is yummy... and walnut pieces for extra crunch! - 7/25/09

Is a sandwich tin the same thing as a cake pan? How large were the pans used for this recipe? Thank you! - 8/31/11

I made this with some chocolate and peanut butter butter cream people went nuts!
@Margo55 you can just use a scale that is what I did. It is just weight measurements which are more accurate.

I didn't think there would be enough of the cake mixture to fill two sandwich tins, but it rose beautifully and tasted great. Thanks for sharing the recipe. - 6/16/10

I do not know how to convert it into American measurements? Otherwise I would like to try this. - 2/5/10

try Google. Type "125ml in floz " "200g in oz" or similar and it converts it for you.
