Ingredients

    1 medium onion, chopped
    2 cloves garlic, diced
    1/2 tbsp olive oil
    4 oz ground beef
    2 red peppers, diced
    2 (400g) cans tomatoes, diced
1 tsp chili power or flakes
    1 tsp oregano
    1/4 tsp salt
    1 tsp basil
    3/4 cup bran cereal
    1/2 cup boiling water
    1/2 cup water

Directions

In a small bowl, combine the bran and boiling water, stir and set aside.

In a medium sauce pan, sweat the onion and garlic, then add the ground beef and brown. Once the beef is browned, add the mushrooms, peppers, tomatoes and tomato paste, and mix well. Then add the spices to taste.

Mix the bran cereal well, and add the 1/2 cup cold water to thin it down a little more, if needed, then mix that into the main pot of sauce. Then simmer for 30 minutes.
