Baby Carrots, raw, 10 medium (remove)
    Beans, black, 1 cup (remove)
    1 tbsp basil

Directions

Cut beef into small bites. Use olive oil to brown beef with onions and garlic. I also use the broccolli stems instead on flowerets for body.Add all ingredients to a large sauce pan or stock pot. Bring to a boil and reduce heat to medium or slow boil, cover. Cook for 11/2 hours or until all ingredients are done. Add water during cooking if needed to keep vegetables covered. Add any herbs for seasoning that you wish. I taste and add oregeno, thyme, basil as needed. Serve hot.

Makes 6 2 cup servings. Reduce to 1 cup if adding crackers, a sandwich or other side. I just have the soup and a piece of fruit.
