Ingredients



    * Ground beef, lean, 750 grams (remove)
    * Onions, raw, 1 large (remove)
    * Garlic, 3 clove (remove)
    * Ginger Root, 4 tsp (remove)
    * *Canola Oil, 1 tbsp (remove)
    * Meadow Fresh blue milk, 190 gram(s) (remove)
    * De Winkel acidophilus yoghurt - plain unsweetened, 250 gram(s) (remove)
    * Red Potato, 350 grams (remove)
    * Tomato paste, 2 tablespoons (remove)
    * Craigs Lentils in brine, 400g can = drained weight of 240g, 240 gram(s) (remove)
    * Peas, frozen, 0.75 cup (remove)
    * Salt, 1.5 tsp (remove)
    * Pepper, black, 0.25 tsp (remove)
    * Cinnamon, ground, 0.5 tsp (remove)
    * *Fenugreek, seeds, 0.5 tsp (remove)
    * *Coriander seed, 2.5 tsp (remove)
    * *Cumin seed, 2.5 tsp (remove)
    * Turmeric, ground, 0.5 tsp (remove)
    * *Lemon Juice, 8 mL (remove)
    * Cilantro, raw, 6 tbsp (remove)

Directions

Fry chopped onion in oil for 3 minutes/until soft. Add minced garlic and ginger, stir 1 minute. Add meat, cook until not pink. Pour off any fat. Add fenugreek, coriander, cinnamon, cumin, turmeric, pepper, 1 tsp of the salt, stir and cook 1 minute. Add potato (chopped into 1/2 inch cubes), milk and yoghurt - stir. Barely bring to boil, then simmer for 20 minutes, covered. Remove lid and simmer further 5 minutes. Stir in peas, remaining salt, drained and rinsed lentils (optional but in nutrition info), tomato paste (optional but in nutrition info), stir well and simmer until peas are done. Stir in cilantro and lemon juice just before serving. Makes 8 servings.
