I love salads and taco salads even better so I thought I would share my dad's simple recipe for taco salad. Enjoy.
This is a very versatile salad, for use as a side dish, chop cabbage smaller. As a main salad dish make bigger chunks and you can also add bay shrimp or cooked chicken pieces.
Excellent summer pasta salad. You can adjust ingrediants to your taste. Tomatoes are also an excellent addition. I eat this as a meal on it's own.
I "invented" this salad by looking at my school's salad bar and realizing that I could indeed make something I liked--all I had to do was throw it all on a plate!
Also includes plenty of protein without meat--I was trying to cut down on meat at the time.
This combins some amzaing flavors into one health salad.
Some tips:
Warm up the walnuts in the microwave for 45 secs (it adds a warm touch to the salad and also freshens the nuts if they're older)
Cup up the orange into small bits, don't just throw in whole slices (you trick yourself into thinking that there is more than there is)
