The sodium count in this recipe is food for a cardiac arrest. Have to skip it.
Use 1 box low sodium chicken broth & add carrots, celery & onion
This recipe tasted great! We've been trying a new recipe a day and this was our favorite so far! I used non-fat, low sodium broth with only 2 packs of biscuit dough and added peas, carrots and some celery salt. I cut the biscuits in sixths because they really expanded when you put them in the broth.
Very tasty, I added a dash of Thyme, Basil, Oregano, Garlic, Pepper. I used Organic fat free chicken broth and Campbell's Healthy Request Cream of Chicken and non fat milk. Making Heart Healthy Biscuits flatten and use a shot glass to cut dough. Yummmmy!
I have never been able to make chicken n dumplings but that changed with this recipe. This was awesome. I added a tbs of Mrs. Dash table blend, and 1 cup cut up carrots. I also used low sodium chicken broth to lower sodium content. Replaced water with all broth. Will make again.
My family always thinks it's a treat to get Chicken and Dumplings. The canned biscuits are my favorite for the dumplings. I made some the other night and didn't have canned biscuits so I used the refrigerated pie crust - not sure how much that ups the calories but it is fantastic for dumplings too
Easy to do, low in calories and fat, and the family loves it. What more could a girl want?
Thanks for this recipe!
Add some chopped parsley just before serving for color flavor and nutrition :-)
How about some low sodium chicken broth and wheat biscuits. That would make it even healthier. The sodium is high in this.
I'm not sure what went wrong, but this had no flavor at all when I made it. Ended up adding sage, terragon, salt, garlic, and hot sauce to it. After all of that, the dumplings fell apart and it was just beige goo.
Made this last night for dinner and it was a big hit with the family. Made enough so we can have it again tonight. I left out the salt and the chicken broth. I just used water and chicken boilin cubes and it came out great. thanks for sharing.
Super good. I used a box of Chicken broth (33% less sodium) and no water. used Bisquick Heart Healthy mix for the dumplings and added potatoes and carrots. My husband loved it!
This recipe sounds awesome, but is a bit more calories if you put it in the calculator. I think she forgot to add 5-8 servings in for the biscuits. Just FYI, there is over 400 calories, but still not bad at all for a nice meal.
