I have tried to make this several times. You can’t just mix the protein power in the hot coffee. You have to slowly mix it with the cold / cool milk before you add it to your coffee or it will be a big clump of powder. I will just stick to my sf home made creamer.
Interesting recipe adding carbs and protein to my coffee fix
I mix whey protein powder with chocolate slim fast in blender and then half coffee half smoothie. Makes 2 servings in one. Great STARTER FLUID . And with my schedule of 6 days work 1 day off then do it again plus pool, Dr appts, I do require KICK START MORNINGS. I haven't found chocolate flavore
I never use protein powder, might have to consider it for this drink.
I use my hand blender to mix protein powder into liquids.
I do a cold protein mocha shake and it's good. I add a banana usually.
I have actually taken a little cocoa powder and add that to my coffee. Never thought to try adding protein powder! Thanks for the idea!
Cold coffee, almond milk, protein powder, and ice. Yum. :D
This is a great idea, thanks. I brew black coffee and let it cool, then use 250ml coffee as the liquid part of my 30gram protein powder shake (chocolate flavour). I add a couple of ice cubes and 150ml semi skimmed milk and drink 30 mins before my weights workout. Gives an extra boost.
I mix the protein and the milk in my Nutribullet, then foam them up with my Ninja frother and put them in the microwave for 30 secs. It sets the foam and warms it up sufficiently so it does not cool my coffee. I love strong hot coffee.
So THAT'S my problem. I'd tried to add protein powder to my BPC, and Yuck! Clumps!
I didn't have this specific brand - today I used Axe Naturals Healing Protein, Chocolate flavor, but with the coffee and (almond) milk, it's still very yummy! Plus I like to add cinnamon and/or cardamom to my coffee, and a fraction of a teaspoon of coconut oil.
Great wake me up, plus protein to get me through the am
What can I use instead of Protein WHey POwder. I don't think they have any kosher one here in Israel.
I do something similar for my morning coffee...but with Triple Chocolate Whey protein (30g protein) and without the milk. It's a perfect way to get the added protein right after a workout while also getting my morning fix of caffein! :)
This has been a great way to sneak some protein into my mornings. I mix the 1/2 scoop into 1/2c milk then heat the mixture just enough to not cool the coffee too much, then I add about 16oz coffee and a touch of sweetener. Be sure to dissolve the powder completely or it will be chunky/lumpy.
This is a great idea ffor when you need more of a boost than just the caffine in the coffee..I have used vanilla protein powder as a substitute because I was out of chocolate and it still was just as good...and 80% of the time I drink iced coffee, this is great over ice after blending it up
use skim or 1% milk-mix protein powder and milk first then add coffee-add cocoa or additional sweetner
It's good! Better than I expected. I had Pure Protein Vanilla Shake powder...blended with heated milk...added sweetener. A little too milky, next time will add cocoa or Chocolate PP.
I tried this the other morning, and it was good. Made it with Chocolate Silk Light, a teaspoon of cocoa powder, protein powder, and double strength coffee that I brewed and let cool down. Put all in blender with lots of ice. Very good, but I need to tweak it a bit so it tastes like a Frappucino.
This is a great recipe. I've been drinking this for years. It is a great way to add protein to your afternoon coffee. Sometimes I add a full scoop when I need more calories. I am on the road a lot and I keep a small can of powder in my car. Just make sure the coffee is not to hot .
Been doing this for about a year now when I could not find non dairy cream in Oz, I found a great vanilla protein powder that can be heated so that is what I use..it is an awesome boost to my coffee without un needed calories but the added protein!
A serving of Pure Protein is 2 scoops;100 calories. I made this as suggested and it was weak, thin, and left me hungry. I made it again with 1 1/2 scoops, and it was thick, delicious and filling! If made with 2 scoops, 1/2 c of 1% milk and coffee, it would equal 155 cal. Add 2 pckts Stevia, 5 cubes.
I don't do chocolate so I used my vanilla protein powder. It was yummy!!! I don't care for cold coffee, but I can see this as a serious protein shake!
I used 8oz soy milk, 2 tsps. instant expresso, and cocoa powder and one scoop protein powder with ice cubes. Great for breakfast!!! Yum
I am allergic to milk products - this protein powder I would not use. I would substitute Life's Basic Plant Protein Mix Powder - Natural Vanilla or Chocolate, and use coconut milk in place of the milk, plus the coffee. Otherwise, I really do not drink coffee to wake up and energize me.
This could be healthier for you if you used a healthy coffee. I have one, shimphealthybev1.organogold.com. This is how I prefer my protein shakes. I was able to eliminate my acid reflux medications because if this healthy coffee.
I used warm Pure Protein Shake instead of powder - delicious!!
Thank You, Thank You, Thank You!!!!! I love Mocha Coffee and this recipe is much lower in calories.
A VERY nice Recipe! I wonder if it's better to add another 1/2 a scoop vanilla protein powder. It would taste different.
Coffee should be cooled down as it may alter the characteristics of the amino acids in the protein powder!

Many thanks
I heat the milk up for 45 seconds and then add the protein powder slowly to help it blend better. I also put in about a half a teaspoon of cocoa to give it a richer chocolaty flavor. This has been such a boost to my morning to get this much extra protein with the coffee that I already drink anyways.
I blended the protein powder and milk together first and then added the hot coffee and it was fine. It does need a little sweetner
though.
