Ingredients

2 tablespoons vegetable oil
4 cloves garlic, chopped
1/2 pound ground beef
1/2 small head cabbage, shredded
1 red bell pepper, cut into strips
2 tablespoons soy sauce
1 teaspoon cornstarch
1/2 cup water
1 teaspoon ground black peppe
Directions
Heat a wok or large skillet over medium-high heat, and add oil. Saute garlic for about 5 seconds, then add ground beef. Stir-fry until beef is evenly brown. Stir in cabbage and pepper, and cook until vegetables are tender, and beef is fully cooked. Stir in soy sauce. Mix together cornstarch and water, and stir in. Season with pepper. Cook, stirring, until sauce has thickened.

I would give this five stars if the recipe called for beef steak strips instead of ground beef. There are inexpensive and flavorfull cuts of beef steak that when cut into thin stips can be easily tenderized. And, also, do yourself a favor and add a teaspoon of shredded ginger or ginger paste. - 2/26/13

I didn't use the cabbage but added carrots, yellow squash and onion. It smelled wonderful but was too salty for our tastes. I'll most likely use reduced sodium soy sauce next time.Was easy and quick to make. With a little tweaking will be a great meal. My fiance asked for noodles instead of rice. - 3/4/09
