Introduction

A great side dish for pork chops or lean sausages. A great side dish for pork chops or lean sausages.
Number of Servings: 4

Ingredients

    2 cups sauerkraut
    1 cup diced onion
    1/4 cup red wine
    1 tbsp thyme
    1/2 tbsp butter

Directions

Saute' the onions in the butter until translucent.
Add the sauerkraut and thyme, cook until heated through. Remove from heat, stir in wine.
Place back on heat, simmer for 10 minutes.

    I rinsed the sauerkraut, and thought it was going to be a bit bland, but was presently surprised - I had it with white rice and mild italian sausage so it was a good side dish for that... thanks! Definitely making this again - so easy!!!!! - 2/24/08

    when you use the kraut.. rinse it in a colander under cold water for about 2 minutes.. the salty taste is gone .. they have to use salt to keep it on the shelf. - 2/15/08

    O.K.
    The sauerkraut didn't have much flavor for me and I love sauerkraut. The only thing I could taste was the thyme. I didn't even keep the leftovers - 2/25/12
