Way too much sugar and salt in these...I agree with doing something with flax seeds...you won't get the benefit of these if they're not crushed or cracked already...this isn't that healthy even using bran...and some wheat...don't be fooled by the "healthy" stuff...way too much sugar and molasses - 1/4/10

This sounds delicious but it has too many calories and fat grams. I will redo recipe using applesauce and reducing the brown sugar. - 1/4/10

I will definitely cut back on the sugar and make 18 muffins from this recipe. Both will cut down on the calories. Plus the flax seeds and sesame seeds are fiber, meant to go through you:) - 1/4/10

Sounds very good. But what about those flax seeds? If they're whole, they'll go right through you without releasing their nutrients. And likewise the sesame? If I make these muffins, I will grind the seeds first. Oooh, and whole wheat flour, too! - 1/4/10

I love muffins, these are high calorie. Why not switch the oil with applesauce? There is probably other alternatives to lower the calories. They would be something you couldn't eat many of. - 1/4/10

Way too many calories, carbs and fat. There are many substitutions you could use to make these alot more healthy. These are nearly 40% fat! - 1/5/10

This is something I will make..Sugar not excessive and fiber count is very good. I am thinking to have made, heat in micro would be a very good start with milk on a cold morning like today. might not use a full cup of sugar.. - 1/4/10

Wow, I'm really surprised at all the negative comments here. Not everyone has the same nutritional goals. For me, a 300 calorie muffin would fit into my plan just fine. Even with the higher fat, I would still make these. I'm sure one would tide me over until my first snack, or lunch. - 8/29/10

I agree with posted comments.I don't like making negative comments, but I feel Sparkrecipes should be healthy and keep us on the lifestyle changes road. Just putting bran in a recipe doesn't make it good for you (tho it helps). This recipe is too hi in calories fat and sugar for it to be good for me - 7/5/10

I have a blueberry bran muffin recipe that has 1/3 the calories! I will back the recipe with recent revisions this week and post it. I took out the protein powder since it was a specific high quality brand and I know not everyone will want to buy that for muffins! - 4/4/10

I don't think I will be making these. I have a great recipe for banana bran muffins that my family likes a lot. - 1/4/10
