Used all low-fat subs for this one (light sour cream, low fat cream of chicken soup, 2% cheese etc.) and it was very well received. Also used scallions in place of regular onions and they gave it a bit of color. Thanks, Mike! - 12/26/12

    Incredible!
This was amazing! We called this "funeral potatoes" and it was always one of my faves. I used low-fat or fat free stuff where I could (sour cream & cheese) and I used a couple spoonfuls of ghee instead of margarine and butter flavored spray for the topping. - 5/27/21

I make this all the time, but I cut out the butter (gotta cut calories somehow) and use low-fat cheese, sr cream and onion dip and low fat condensed soup. Still Very good! - 7/13/10

Will make, but won't use the cornflakes and substitute soup with reduced fat soup. - 6/5/09

This is a HUGE hit everywhere I take it. I only use the cream of chicken soup, didn't like the mushroom soup in this at all. I also use lite sour cream. Better take the recipe with you, you'll be ask for it. :) - 5/29/09

The traditional name of this casserole is "Funeral Potatoes." Although it is called that because it is often served at Mormon funerals, the name also describes where you will end up if you eat this. Butter, sour cream, cheddar cheese, cream soup...this is not healthy food!

It's my parent's recipe, so I'm kind of partial, but it's by far my favorite meal! Even before Sparks existed, I insisted on having that for dinner all the time! - 9/7/07
