I liked this recipe because it is so basic and flexible -- I didn't have applesauce so I used canned pumpkin and it worked great! I added some crushed walnuts and craisins, and my husband loved them!! He brought them in to work and his coworkers are now asking for this recipe! Thanks! - 1/6/10

I used craisins and unsalted almonds as my add in and it was really yummy. They are quite filling and taste sort of like oatmeal cookies. Will make again! - 2/15/09

I loved these (as did the husband). I think next time I'll add a little shredded coconut along with the craisins (so, 1/2 cup of each). Or, if I'm feeling particularly sinful, instead of the regular additional ingredients, I'll add some orange zest and dip the bottom of the bars in dark chocolate. - 1/3/10

Excellent recipe. My family and I loved these healthy bars. I don't plan on purchasing granola/cereal bars any more from the store. These were simple to make, and I like knowing EXACTLY what's in the foods I eat. - 5/23/09

I added homestyle applesauce which has chunks of apples in it and I also sprinkled some cinnoman on top before baking. It's in the oven now, hopefully is scrumptious! - 6/3/10

I thought these were good but I made a double batch and didn't mix as good as I thought. Will definitely make again, but make two seperate batches instead of one huge one. My husband said he wouldn't like them then he tried one and now I think he likes it more than me. - 1/2/10

Pretty good generally - better than regular granola bars, and more filling, with fewer preservatives. I put in 15 grams of coconut (70 cals) and one tablespoon of chopped pecans. One point -in the nutrition count, you list 1/2 c of craisins as having 180 cals, but my box says it comes to over 400. - 11/23/09

Made a double batch of this recipe last night--for my 1 cup of addins, I used 1/4 c white chocolate, 1/4 c semi-sweet chocolate, and 1/2 c dried cranberries. I also used 1/4 c splenda and 1/4 c brown sugar as splenda gives me heart-burn quite often. AWESOME!!! Will definitely be making this again! - 12/31/09

These are very delicious, but you have to watch them carefully. I left them sit in teh oven a few minutes longer than what they recipe said, adn they came out dry and a little hard. Definately will make these again though. - 5/31/09

I give five stars. These bars stay together, without crumbs all over you. They are not to sweet, and very healthy. And moist and chewy. Just the way we like them for the run. I have them in a zip lock bag. And On the counter. I made them Friday and Monday still very fresh. Thank you for the recipe, - 3/8/10

This is a yummy recipe :) My daughters helped me make it. They chose dark chocolate chips & peanuts as our additions. I think they like it better than cake or brownies. We packed them in their school lunches for today too. I think we'll have to make a double-batch WEEKLY! - 5/1/09

Good, substantial snack that keeps you going for a bit. I used a fairly strong tasting honey - frankly it overpowers it, so next time I'll use a lighter tasting one. - 9/3/08

The 2 1/4 c oats listed in the recipe would amount to 1/4 c per serving vs .11 c listed in the nutrition info, increasing the calories by about 40. Otherwise, the bars have good flavor. I added an egg to help them stay together better and be more moist. My favorite is pumpkin with cinnamon chips. - 10/17/11

These were excellent- I added slivered almonds & raisins, plus a little cinnamon. Could use a little more spunk spice wise, so will do a healthier dose of cinnamon next go round. Oh yes, there will be another go at this these :) Very good!! - 1/10/10

I replaced the applause with peanut butter and added chocolate chips to the top of half of the bars. When I took them out of the oven I spread the chocolate out so it covered the top of the bars. These are super filling and super delicious with or without the chocolate. My husband even loves the! - 3/25/11

OMG! I added the zest of one orange, & 1/2 tspn almond extract, used frozen cranberries and currants as the add-in. It is so unbelievably good, can't believe it is health food. Will use this many times, and with many more variations. Added a tblspn of maple syrup too. - 11/2/10

These were incredibly easy to make. They came out pretty soft, so I let them sit for quite awhile and then put them in the fridge. The bars are pretty big! I substituted real brown sugar for the splenda because its banned in Belgium, so it probably has some health risks. I will make these again! - 1/5/10
