I just made this and it's great! I used only 1/2c of NF yogurt and upped the garlic (and no salt) and it was exactly what I wanted! Thank you :) - 4/28/09

Incredibly bland. I added extra chick peas - to balance the runniness of the yogurt, added a little more lemon juice, lots of cumin, some pepper (black and red) and more garlic. - 8/13/08

You can also make hummus without yogurt, or tahini, just put, garbanzo beans, 1sp olive oil, garlic, the liquid from the can of beans, salt, pepper to taste. You can add any spice you want..I like dill it tastes really good. - 4/14/08

Wow - I've made this 3 X now! I like the yogurt; makes it very smooth and creamy. The variations I've tried include sundried tomato, cilantro and just plain with less lemon. I started eating hummus when I visited AUS. I'd agree with most. You can't beat homemade! Thanks for sharing! - 2/19/11

We loved it! Like other raters, I upped the amount of spices so it wouldn't be so bland. Very smooth, creamy, delicious. Can't tell how much a serving is though. What are you supposed to do? make a batch and eyeball it into 28ths and a 28th is a serving? Luckily this is so lo-cal it's not to worry! - 4/23/08

Instead of adding yogourt I did not drain all the liquid
the beans came in. I also added a little olive oil, doubled
the garlic and added ground pepper and red pepper. Great!

Recipe was good but needs to be spiced up! I did not use canned beans, I chose to make them from dried beans. It was more work but I think hummus turns out a creamier texture when using the dried beans. Thinking to add some jalapeño. - 11/6/20

Nice recipe, needs spicing up a bit since yogurt replaces tahini which I usually use. However I tried this recipe and added chilli seeds in the mix a dash of olive oil, fresh corrinder and blended, after pouring it into a container I sprinkled paprika over the top and dash olive oil, delicious! - 3/8/13

Delicious! I'm glad there is a hummus recipe without tahini, since I can't seem to find it anywhere. I subbed FF sour cream instead of yogurt. Also, I was out of lemon juice, so I used red wine vinegar. Thanks for the recipe! - 11/13/11

I make it this way, with just a bit more spices.. 3 whole cloves of garlic, only 1/4-1/2 cup of yogurt, and paprika. Really makes a huge difference. - 6/7/11

I needed a recipe to remind me of the one I used to make, so I made this but not exactly low-fat, hehehe
I added a tbsp of tahini but left out the olive oil for this time
I added citric acid as well as the lemon wasn't enough and the hummus was already runny
    Yum yum yum

I tried this last night and it was great!I didn't use the exact amounts shown - I always make hummous by adding little bits until the consistency and flavour are right. I also added a bunch of fresh coriander (cilantro) which gave it some extra flavour. - 4/18/08

This is a favorite of mine. I have an old recipe that calls for orange juice, no yogurt or tahina. Not a classic but pretty good. Incidentally, there was a bit of olive oil as well, and from scratch the sodium component is nil!! - 4/14/08

If you don't want to use yogurt but you still want it to me creamy and not as thick (without using lots of oil), you can just add water until the hummus is at a consistency you like. - 4/14/08

I liked this recipe. I did add a little too much garlic, so it had a kick and I didn't add all of the yogurt to it. I just added to taste. My brother tried it and actually liked it. He is THE most pickest eater in the world and if he liked it, it must be good...LoL! - 12/31/07

I don't have a food processor, but put the garbanzo beans in my mini food chopper as well as a few garlic cloves. I hand mixed in the yogurt and thought it was very good, although mine did have a lot of texture. - 12/29/07
