Introduction
This was served every year at my house on New Years Day. It's that special treat I look forward to every year. It has been passed through our family starting with my Great grandmother and each person adds a little something to it. My addition was the garlic. 2 Tbs Parsley flakes
1 tsp pepper
1 clove garlic finely chopped (or minced garlic)
1 tsp dried thyme
1 head of cabbage
1 large onion, slices into rings

Approx 1 cup water
Salt to taste
Pepper to Taste
Garlic Powder
Directions
1. Mix first 8 ingredients together and form into 2-3 inch patties.
2. Heat 5 qt. dutch oven and brown patties on each side. (I drain excess grease out of pan)
3. Cut up cabbage and place on top of patties.Lay onion rings over top of cabbage.
4. Pour tomato sauce over onions, cabbage and meatballs. Add just enough water to almost cover cabbage. Sprinkle the pepper, salt and garlic powder over and cover to cook.
5. When cabbage is almost done, remove lid and let sauce reduce. Cook to your desired doneness, but don't over cook.
