On a side note, this recipe could easily be adapted to a salmon loaf - a bit easier than shaping a frying many patties. Just pat the ingredients into a loaf shape in a pan with edges and bake at 350 for about 30-40 minutes. - 1/13/09

You don't really need to remove the skin and bones; they add calcium. Just use a fork to mash them up really good. You will never know they are there! - 1/8/09

You can also make these under the broiler like I do. Just spray each side with a bit of cooking spray, I like the butter cooking spray, and broil for about 5 mins per side. Maybe a few moments longer depending on your oven. Great recipe - 1/24/09

If you don't like chopping the vegies, I get Pic Sweet Seasoning mix in the frozen food section usually about 99 cents for a 10 oz bag. That way I have it on hand and don't have to worry about the vegies going bad if I don't get around to using them all. - 1/16/09

This recipe was delicious! I substituted dill weed for the spice and made a loaf and baked in 350 oven for 35 minutes per a prior comment. It was moist, tasty and really easy to pull together. I will definitely put this in my list of "regulars". Thanks! - 2/14/09

YUM! We (unexpectedly) had five for dinner, so I diced a carrot, half a green pepper, and a couple green onions and added a couple extra crackers. The extra veggies stretched the can of salmon and were TASTY! - 2/6/09

MMM! MMM! Good! This was a great meal paired with a salad of mixed greens, tomatoes and purple onions. The chili powder and Bay seasoning make a very nice taste. I used the liquid from the salmon can, and had no trouble with crumbling. Definitely would make this again. - 2/9/09

I substituted tuna (didn't have salmon) and did this low-carb style with low carb breadcrumbs. Excellent recipe that got seconds from my husband. It's easy and fast. Note that there wasn't enough egg to bind, so I needed to add more eggs and the patties are fragile, so be careful flipping them. - 2/3/09

Great recipe! We started cooking up our patties on the gas grill if it's not too cold (under 15degrees around here!)-- it makes them even ligher in fat, and tastes great! - 1/23/09

The grill sounds good. I use a George Foreman Griddle. You might also like to try it with fresh salmon. I always use any leftover for them when I serve the fresh filets. I just remove the skin and flake it then add the other ingredients. I also sometimes use dill and other spices. enjoy

I make these with salmon, tuna, or any fish. I use oat bran, egg whites, onion, celery, and add ketchup and mustard to the mixture before browning in olive oil spray. A great way to add more fish to your diet. - 2/12/09

Very yummy alternative to an old favorite that my mother used to make with tuna. I love the veggies and spices that you recommend. I used low carb crushed crackers instead of bread crumbs - and don't drain the juice - it moistens the crumbs! - 1/13/09

I loved this recipe and plan on making it regularly for lunches with both salmon and tuna. By the way, I use 2 5 oz. cans of boneless pink salmon and Italian seasoned bread crumbs, which yields 4 hearty patties at about 150 calories each. I also add about 1 or 2 teaspoons of water to the mixture. - 4/29/13

I added 1 egg white to the recipe for a bit more binder. I mix everything and then refrigerate for about an hour or so, gives the bread crumbs a chance to soak up liquid and hold things together. Fabulous meal! My 5 year old loves these. - 3/6/09

This recipe was yummy. In the future, I will be sure to chop my vegetables even finer, maybe in a processor.

I will also never buy canned salmon with the bones and skin in it again. Spring for the expensive cans with no bones/skin... trust me!

The spices were right, the mixture was good.
