I substituted tuna (didn't have salmon) and did this low-carb style with low carb breadcrumbs. Excellent recipe that got seconds from my husband. It's easy and fast. Note that there wasn't enough egg to bind, so I needed to add more eggs and the patties are fragile, so be careful flipping them. - 2/3/09

Great recipe! We started cooking up our patties on the gas grill if it's not too cold (under 15degrees around here!)-- it makes them even ligher in fat, and tastes great! - 1/23/09

The grill sounds good. I use a George Foreman Griddle. You might also like to try it with fresh salmon. I always use any leftover for them when I serve the fresh filets. I just remove the skin and flake it then add the other ingredients. I also sometimes use dill and other spices. enjoy

I loved this recipe and plan on making it regularly for lunches with both salmon and tuna. By the way, I use 2 5 oz. cans of boneless pink salmon and Italian seasoned bread crumbs, which yields 4 hearty patties at about 150 calories each. I also add about 1 or 2 teaspoons of water to the mixture. - 4/29/13

I also had a problem that the patties wouldn't stay together (I too drained the juice.) But great taste, the chili powder makes these addicting!
I used ~3/4 Tbsp. canola oil (total) to fry on the griddle. Yield ~13 patties. Next time I'll try canned salmon w/o bones; removing them took too lon - 1/24/09

My grandmother used to make these, fried in lots of oil or course. I can't wait to cook them myself; with a healthier recipe. Thanks for sharing. - 1/22/09

I hope that you will enjoy. You might also try them with fresh salmon if you buy the filets and have some left over as I ocassionally do. I flake the salmon after I have cooked it and removed the skin otherwise the ingredients are the same but can be
diversified

This sounds just like my mom makes except she uses cracker crumbs instead of bread crumbs the dip patties into flour and fry in hot oil pan both sides until done. I do the same except i do them in corn meal. I some times use tuna when i don't have salmon it's just as good with riice and veg. - 1/17/09

Thank you for the idea, I will try it. You also might like to try it with fresh cooked
salmon. I do, whenever I have a little left over. ( the family sees to it that this does
not happen too often though. I usually have to purchase an extra piece just for it)
