You can also do this with a cake mix, just use entire diet soda instead of 1/2. For icing mix 1 tub fat free cool whip with 1 box vanilla (or chocolate) pudding package. - 2/18/09

I misread the recipe and used the whole can for brownies, I used the Ghirardelli mix, in a 13x9 pan, and 12oz of Cherry Coke Zero...they're awesome! Even with the screwup, they're moist, fudgy, and a little crisp on top. Definitely a keeper, thank you! - 9/17/09

Loved it! I used the white cake mix (reduced sugar) & 1/2 a can of Sierra Mist Free. Next time I'll use the full can, I forgot about the other comment for the cake mix. I think I'm going to stop at the store & get brownie mix & a can of Coke Zero and do brownies tonight! - 2/18/09

I used 13X8 brownie mix and 8 oz of diet rite (it has splenda and tastes better than aspertame diet coke). And no, it's not really healthy, but it is a good way to save some calories when you are trying to get your calories down. Cakey/gooey which is what I like. Thanks for sharing. - 7/12/14

I didn't really like the taste. I used Duncan Hines and Coke Zero. It is still a lot of calories for the volume. It is not filling and doesn't supply a lot of nutrients. For one very small brownie, it is 100 cal. It's not really worth it. - 4/3/11

This sounds great. Is it made in a 9x13 pan or 8 in pan? - 2/20/09

    Reply from KARIEDAWAY (2/20/09)
I have actually made it in both just make sure to check them since the cook time may vary depending on how thin they are. I do the toothpick test, where if you pull the toothpick out and it is clean they are done.

I used a 13 X 9 pan. I probably should have used an 8x8 or a 9x9. The edges were rock hard. The inside was still gooey. I could taste the cola with a smidge of brownie. Husband did not like it at all. - 6/13/18

Just baked a batch and Soooo delicious...maybe I didn't let the brownies bake long enough though. I used diet pepsi with duncan hines chewy fudge mix, its completely done and very moist but falls apart when cut. Overall, I will surely add this to my weightloss "dessert bank"! Good recipe!! - 9/26/10

Also, I pureed/liquified one can of black beans and a cup of spinach (save it in tupperware for lots of recipes each week) and added three tablespoons of this to the brownie batter (I start with three tablespoons...I slowly add more each time) and used muffin pan for 12 muffins - 8/13/10

I think these are outrageous..my brother thinks they are gross. Hence the 4 stars:) I used a box of duncan hines family style brownies and 1 can of raspberry club soda. They were crispy on top....next time I'm going to try it using only 1/2 can of club. Thanks for sharing!! - 6/10/10

I'm wondering if I did something wrong because everyone else said they were amazing. I made sure to use a half a can of diet coke with one package of brownie mix, nothing else. They were really flat and really gooey, looked and tasted like they didn't cook long enough, although I know I did. Hmm... - 1/20/10

Hope someone can tell me what I did wrong. Mine were hard on sides and gum in the middle. Did anyone else have a problem? I would love to make some again it is a great idea if I can make it work. I used a cheap brand of Brownies could that be it? Cheers, Maxie - 6/17/09

I am just making these now and I can't wait to try them! Not sure about the calorie content listed. I am using Betty Crocker's mix and the mix alone is 110 calories for 20 servings. Dividing the batch into 12 serviings puts the calories up to around 183 each. So be careful what brand you use. - 5/17/09

Low-fat brownies+Pepsi Max=Candy-like consistency that's really hard to eat even with milk.

Not rating this because I think the fault lies with the Pepsi Max.

I'm not going to rate this because I haven't tried using diet soda and a brownie mix. I used diet soda with Bisquick (half soda, half nonfat milk) to make strawberry shortcake. The biscuits turned out delicious! Light and airy, slightly sweet. Topped with SF cool whip and strawberries. Yum! - 5/4/09

Tasted just like normal brownies... They were definitely cakier, and really crumbly, though. I'm wondering if I put too much soda in mine. I did a half of a can, but next time maybe I'll do less. Also, I used reduced sugar brownie mix, maybe that made a difference. Yum! :) - 3/9/09

It really doesn't matter which kind you use just make sure to follow the directions. I used the low calorie brownie mix
