Introduction

Here's my recipe for primal chips or fries (depending on how you slice them.) This is based off of a recipe from 150 Things to Make with Roast Chicken by Tony Rosenfeld.

If you're not "Primal to the core" you could add 1 teaspoon brown sugar to this mix.

Ingredients

    1 teaspoon chili powder
    1 teaspoon paprika
    1 teaspoon garlic powder
    1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon light brown sugar, optional
    1/2 teaspoon cumin, ground
2 lbs sweet potatoes, sliced into 1-inch-wide wedges or into 1-inch-wide slices
    2 tablespoons olive oil

Directions

Preheat the oven to 425.
In a small bowl, toss together the chili powder, paprika, garlic powder, salt, brown sugar, and cumin.
In a large bowl toss the potatoes with the oil, then with the spice mix until evenly coated.
Transfer the potatoes to a large baking sheet and roast, flipping occasionally, until tender, browned, and crisped in places, about 25 minutes.
Serve immediately.

Ridiculously good. Perfect blend of sweet, savory, and spicy. My meat-and-potatoes boyfriend and 15 year old son loved it - and the 8 month old, too! - 10/23/18

Not too shabby! But I will have to halve the sodium next time. Way too much of it for the amount of sweet potatoes. - 9/21/18

I used my Kitchenaid and cut them quite thin. I went a bit over the time and lost some to total carbon but others were still great to eat. - 4/21/13

These were very good, but I did make a few alterations because I didn't have enough spices on hand. I only used about half as much chili powder and no paprika. I added splenda at the end to make them a bit sweet (as more of a dessert). I also cooked them only 15 minutes because I sliced them thin - 3/20/12

I'm going to pair these with my lunches these week! I have all the seasonings, except I'm going to leave out the sugar! Gracias! - 3/1/12

Made this tonight. Super tasty. Our sweet potato didn't need the brown sugar to be sweet and spicy. Saving this one. - 2/2/12

My family that usually hates sweet potatoes all ate these & say they are keepers. Needed to cook a little longer to get them crisp, but think thats because they weren't single layer on baking sheet. - 4/21/10

These were terrific !!! Did not have cumin, so I left it out and there were still delicious. I can't wait to make them again! - 1/30/10

AWESOME!! The sweet potatoes are so sweet that I probably could have doubled the spices. I ate them for breakfast today.
