Awesome. Tasty, nutritious, hearty, and even easy. Just wish I knew by looking at the recipe, how big each of the 8 servings is... 1 cup? 1/2 cup? 2 cups? Will measure before serving next time. And there will definitely be many next times! - 11/1/09

Made this recipe yesterday and ate it for lunch today. Delicious! I substituted the onions for onion powder. I also added an extra bag of peas and water since I like a thick pea soup. Cooked 10 hours and then let it sit overnight. I add a little water when serving if too thick. - 12/19/11

This was delicious! I did not use just water since I had exactly that amount of liquids left from baking our ham (after chilling and removing the fat). It was delicious! - 12/18/11

Not too bad. Pretty tasty. 8 to 10 hours is overkill, only needed about 3 or 4. I used fresh parsley as I'm a believer in that always being fresh. Used one hock. I'm assuming from the amount that the servings are about a cup or so? - 1/9/19

Wonderful, easy recipe. My husband and I both enjoyed it very much. I used 1.5 tsps. of salt instead of the Tbsp. and I was out of marjoram. It was great nonetheless. I cooked it in a Dutch oven on the stovetop for 2.5 hrs. I have a super simmer setting. It came out perfect. - 5/9/15

This is a great recipe for split pea soup. It's super easy. It is in my crockpot right now. I used turkey kielbasa instead of ham & fresh chopped parsley. There's lots to do today and it's great knowing that dinner is already made…I can hardly wait! - 11/8/14

I loved it! My husband thought it hd to much pepper, so for those of you who do not like pepper, reduce. My husband liked the flavor and I loved it. He just did not llike the pepper. - 10/29/14

Great soup, I used half lentils because I didn't have enough peas. I cooked on high for 5 hours. I recalculated calories, it was 198 per serving, which is easily 2 cups. - 2/10/13

Loved it.. and it loved me. This is my second time making this recipe. The first time the ham I used had a lot of cloves and this time it was sweeter. I adjusted afterwards by adding a tsp of allspice (Jamaican) and 2 splashes of worchestershire. DEFINITELY will make it again, might double it. - 4/27/11
