Introduction
BIG family hit! BIG family hit!Number of Servings: 8
Ingredients
-
1 tube refrigerated pizza dough
2 cups mozzarella cheese
approx. 32 turkey pepperoni slices
Directions
Preheat the oven to 350.
Roll the pizza dough out and make it a flat rectangle. Cut it in half the long direction. Then cut it in half the short direction. Then cut each of those halves in half again the short direction. You should have 8 rectangles left.
On each rectangle, put approximately 4 of the turkey pepperonis & 1/4 cup of cheese. (You can also add any other pizza toppings you like. I usually add diced peppers) Pull one side over the top and seal by using a fork all the way around each calzone.
Place them on a cookie sheet & bake for 15 - 20 minutes (depending on your oven.)
This makes 8 calzones. I usually serve with pizza sauce to dip in.

These were yummy. I made some with mushrooms, spinach, sauce and cheese and some with turkey pepperoni and cheese. My family really enjoyed them. After about 5 min or so of cooking I brushed egg whites on top of them to make them shiny and help them brown nicely. I will be making them again! - 6/20/12

These were a HIT with my family - including kids. I made the kids with turkey pepperoni and then for the hubby and I, I cooked up some italian sausage (not too bad calorie), mushrooms, and onions in a skillet. Used that for our filling. They were WONDERFUL! I definitely will make these again! - 1/7/10

I tried it using turkey ham - had the grocer slice it thin like deli slices. Added bell peppers & mushrooms and a teasponful of Ragu sauce inside. Also used low fat cheese or try neufschatel (lowfat cream cheese) instead. Will make again - THANX for this easy & quick recipe. I love calzones! - 6/15/09

hmmm...isn't it dry. Nobody has said anything about it being dry- our family really likes sauces- hence me being on this site.

My son doesn't like sauces, so that's why I usually put some pizza sauce out for those of us who do like it to dip in. A 1/4 cup of sauce (more than enough) adds 30 calories.
