Introduction
Frozen bananas rival soft serve when given a whirl in the food processor. No cholesterol and no added sugar, just creamy and sweet bananas!Frozen bananas rival soft serve when given a whirl in the food processor. No cholesterol and no added sugar, just creamy and sweet bananas!
Number of Servings: 4
Ingredients
-
4 peeled frozen bananas, sliced
Tips
You MUST use a food processor or a high-speed blender for this recipe; a regular blender will not blend the bananas thoroughly enough.
Directions
Place frozen bananas in the bowl of a food processor. Pulse several times to break into smaller pieces, then turn on and run for about five minutes, stopping occasionally to scrape down the sides of the bowl. The bananas will start to resemble soft serve in a few minutes. Transfer to a bowl and place in freezer for about 15 minutes, if you'd like, or serve immediately.

I needed something for desert for a small dinner party. I did not have time to go to the store but had frozen bananas for banana bread. I added almond extract and a little vanilla. It was FABULOUS!! Creamy and delicious! My guest were impressed. I also sprinkled a bit of chocolate on top! WHO KNEW?? - 7/15/09

OMG! I finally tried this recipe about 20 minutes ago and I couldn't stop sampling! I added a little rice milk to smooth it out and this cold creamy delight will definitely be a hit for Labor Day, I plan to make it and top it off with fresh strawberries for our celebration!!! I made this last night for me and my teenage daughter. We both loved it. I used a blender instead of a food processor and it was fine. I added a little truvia, a drop of vanilla extract and topped it off with ff whipped cream. Next time I made this, I will leave in freezer the full 15 mins. - 2/14/10

I buy bananas in bulk from our local grocer after he's marked them way down. I peel each one individvually, break it up into chunks and freeze it in a snack size freezer bag for making fruit smoothies. For baking I pack them up 3 at a time in a larger bag. I can't wait to try this recipe. Thank you! - 2/18/10

Love the ones that had it for breakfast - I mean - why not it is just a banana!!!
We just had it at supper and I made it in front of the family. The transformatrion was amazing!
I like the lollypop (ice cream bar) idea. A peanut butter, banana ice cream sandwich between vanilla cookies, refreeze - 7/31/09

Oh my, who knew? This was positively delicious! I did have to add a little 2% milk (a minimal calorie addition per serving) to loosen it up a bit, because my food processor was groaning. :) Nice and rich - perhaps even more satisfying than ice cream! Gonna try it with strawberries tonight. - 7/24/09

I drink this as a milkshake! I LOVE it! It's so adaptable, everyone makes it just how they like it! I see several people complained about how hard the bannanas are to blend when they are frozen, I've always sliced the bannanas and spread them out on a cookie sheet. Plastic wrap it, then freeze it! - 4/15/10

Amazing transformation! I used my Ninja blender/food processer and first my banana just became littlwe pieces but i kept pulsing and volia it became soft serve. I added a little vanilla extract and about a teaspoon of milk because my banana was still a little green before I froze it. Over all good! - 1/27/10

This sounds really interesting! I haven't tried it yet, but I HATE ice cream, I might be able to enjoy this with my family. I am always kinda left out on Ice Cream night, now, maybe that will change. I love bananas! I think I will add a little 1% milk to thin it out, a dash of Cinnamon, and caramel. - 1/22/10

Amazing & easy find! I made it as soon as I came across this recipe. I have been saving my brown bananas in the freezer for banana cake but it's been months since I did anything with them. Forget banana cake now! Although I might have to make the cake and this soft serve recipe 2 eat together! yum! - 10/6/09

I cannot eat ice cream...it's not that I am lactose intolerant or anything, but rather my body just does not like it anymore, while I, on the otherhand do...and I sometimes I miss it terribly. When I can across this recipe, I was amazed...my kids were amazed..and now I have a treat again for myself! - 7/30/09
