Number of Servings: 6

Ingredients

1 tube refrigerated bread dough, whole wheat if possible
    3 slices turkey bacon, cooked
1 teaspoon dried thyme or 2 teaspoons fresh
    sprinkle red pepper flakes (optional)

Tips

Remove the bacon from the heat when just cooked. It will crisp up in the oven during the second baking.
Want to serve a decadent brunch that's still healthier than a restaurant? Serve these with my Mock Sausage Gravy!
Make a batch on the weekend and keep handy for hungry teenage boys (and their parents)!

Directions

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
Lightly dust a cutting board with flour. Place the dough on a cutting board and unroll into a rectangle. Spray the side of the dough that's face up with nonstick cooking spray. Place the bacon strips on the dough then sprinkle on the thyme. Roll the dough back into its original shape. Cut into 1/2 inch thick slices and place on a baking sheet that has been sprayed with nonstick cooking spray.
Bake 15 minutes or until just golden in color.
Makes 12 rolls, 2 rolls per serving.

First off she can use how many rolls in the picture she wants. Second she even said crushed red pepper so that may account for the chopped red bits. Second how about stop complaining and just make the damn thing and see if you like it or not. Just be thankful she shared with you a new idea. - 9/18/12

I bet the folks complaining about how many rolls are in the picture and the "crumbled" vs bacon slices are the ones who have nothing else better to do than complain. Here is an idea, rather than complain, get off the computer and do something positive. PS-These were great! - 10/4/12

I made this recipe . . . cooked EIGHT slices of turkey bacon and crumbled it onto the dough. I used refrigerated pizza dough as I never found anything labeled just bread dough. I sprinkled shredded Parmesan cheese on it as well. Tasty. - 9/19/12

I tried this recipe, it was quite good, but mine did not look anything like the picture (they looked like crap...but tasted good). What is the "red stuff"???? Anyway, I'll try this again, because I love any recipe that calls for bacon, may it be turkey or pork. Just wish mine looked like the pic! - 9/17/12

I made these using cooked crumbled chicken Italian sausage. Also sprinkled a little cheese. Used hot pepper flakes on half, as some don't like a "hot spicy breakfast roll". There are so many ways these can be made. - 9/17/12

"Make a batch on the weekend and keep handy for hungry teenage boys (and their parents)!"

Teenaged girls can have a salad or go hungry, eh?

It seems strange that a fitness site would go along with, "Oh, yes, growing boys need to satisfy their appetites!" while ignoring that girls grow too.

I liked these. I doubled the bacon and used a pizza crust because it was what i had available. They're easy, low mess, and a nice spin on breakfast. I think next time I'll sprinkle a little flax seed in there before laying down the bacon. They're bagged in pairs to take to work the rest of the week. - 1/27/14

"3 slices turkey bacon, COOKED" You can cook turkey bacon & take it off the pan even though it's not crispy. It crisps up as it cools.

I would use more turkey bacon. 3 slices for 6 servings isn't very much, only 1/2 slice per serving. Turkey bacon is low in calories, so why skimp on it?

THIS SOUNDS GOOD AND WHEN I HAVE TIME I AM GOING TO MAKE IT. WHAT GETS ME IS IF PEOPLE WOULD READ THE RECIPE THEY WOULDN'T HAVE TO SOUND SO STUPID. IT IS RIGHT THERE IN THE RECIPE 3 SLICES TURKEY BACON COOKED. IS THAT SO HARD TO SEE? THAT HAPPENS A LOT.

I use crescent rolls to make this recipe. I tried the bread roll but it didn't open as flat. Use the lower fat type or garlic flavored for a twist. I sometimes use spicy mustard or a horseradish-cheddar cheese sliced thin from my local supermarket deli for some zip. Very easy, very tasty. - 9/17/13

You can change anything...It looks good and a serving 137.8 cals. If you want more bacon figure it up...add the bacon, add the cals. and figure it up. I, myself, would love to put this together with some greater part skim mozzarella...measure and add to the nutrition chart. - 9/17/12

I am going to try this. To the one who said 12 were made not 6. That is right but serving size is 2. So you make 12 and there are 6 servings. Looks great and easy.

Haven't tried it yet. Sounds good and it is real easy to make. I have read the comments and I take it some people didn't read the recipe thoroughly. It says in the recipe--3 strips of turkey bacon, cooked. That means this ingredient is cooked before you make the rolls. - 9/17/13

I am fully with people who want real representations of actual recipes to be shown. I don't want to be misled. What draws me to a recipe is the photo, if one is available, and it should be a real photo of the item being presented. Chef Meg should be professional enough to know better, by now. - 10/26/12

Not to sound stupid but, what is refrigerated bread dough? In the picture it looks like they used cinnabuns with out the icing. - 9/17/12

Happy to help. It is found in the section of the market next to dinner rolls, biscuits, usually sandwiched between cheese and yogurt. Chef Meg

I cheated! I used regular bacon since I'm not a fan of turkey bacon. Wondering if I could somehow get eggs involved in the recipe but not sure how to do that...will have to experiment a bit more. Makes a good on the go breakfast. - 1/3/20
