Ingredients

Pastry for 9 inch, 2 crust pie (homemade or store bought)
    4 cups mixed berries
    ¼ cup white sugar
    ¼ lite brown sugar
    ¼ flour
    1 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon 5 spice mixture (cinnamon, clove, nutmeg, ginger, and anise)
    1 teaspoon vanilla extract
    1 tablespoon margarine
    ¼ cup milk

Directions

Heat oven to 400 degrees F. Roll out half pastry and line a 9 inch pie plate. Combine sugars, flour, salt and spices. Mix berries and add dry ingredients and vanilla till berries are covered with mixture. Fill lined pie plate with berry mixture. Cover berries with remaining pastry whole or in a lattice pattern using a pastry wheel to make lattice work. Trim and shape edges. For full top cut slits in top and dot top with margarine. For lattice top, dot exposed areas with margarine and brush milk on lattice pieces. Bake 35-40 minutes. To keep edges from burning you can use foil to cover the edge and continue baking.

    Incredible!
So good... I have a small mini-pie crimper; halved the recipe & made four mini-pies for portion control. I also used Splenda instead of the sugar, and a berry-cherry blend. My spouse is very, very happy right now; thanks! - 3/10/12

    Very Good
Very yummy! The only change I made was I used 1/2 tablespoon of pumpkin pie spice instead of the whole tablespoon of the 5 spice mixture. A tablespoon tasted too strong for me so I used less. It was definitely the best tasting berry pie I have ever made! - 7/16/10
