Ingredients
-
4 Medium Apples, cored and chopped. (I peel about 1/2 of the skin off, to retain some fiber... but the peel never really cooks down)
2/3 cup blueberries, strawberries or raspberries, fresh or frozen (nutrition info uses blueberries)
2/3 cup water
Cinnamon, to taste
2 tsp. Splenda, optional
Directions
1.) Place chopped apples in a small sauce pan with the water. Bring the water to a simmer.
2.) Add the cinnamon (as much as you like up to 1 tsp) and cook the apples for about 10 minutes.
3.) When the apples are tender, mash them with a potato masher. Add the blueberries and splenda (if you like a sweeter sauce), and cook 5 minutes more.
Serve it warm as a snack, or as a side dish to any kid-friendly lunch or breakfast.
Makes 4 servings, about 2/3 cup each.
