Introduction

I used to bake these cookies with my mom when I was little. They are called "zandkoekjes" (sand cookies) because of their crumbly texture and sandy color. They are very easy to make, and turn out crisp and buttery. Eat them plain or put some jelly between 2 cookies for a special treat. I used to bake these cookies with my mom when I was little. Ingredients

1 stick + 1 tbsp unsalted butter (softened)
    1.5 cup flour
    .5 cup sugar
    1 tbsp vanilla (optional)
    dash of salt

Directions

Mix all the ingredients together until you have a soft cookie dough.
I prefer to roll out the dough and use cookie cutters to make fun shapes.
You can also make a roll, refridgerate over night and slice the next morning.
Bake for about 15 minutes at 350 and let cool.
Note: these cookies will be sand color...they do not really brown in the oven.
The number of cookies depends on how big you make them. I get about 18 cookies out of this recipe.
