This is one of our favorites. We removed the swiss cheese topping to lower the cholestrol. This is one of our favorites. We removed the swiss cheese topping to lower the cholestrol.

    6 Dreamfield lasagna noodles cooked
    1/3 cup chopped onion
    2 Tablespoons olive oil
    1/3 cup flour
    3/4 teaspoon garlic powder
    1/4 teaspoon dried thyme
    2.5 cups 1% milk
    6 cups fresh broccoli chopped
    1.5 cups low fat cottage cheese


In a large saucepan, saute onion in oil until tender. Add the flour, garlic powder, and thyme; stir until blended. Gradually add milk. Bring to a boil; cook for 2 minutes or until thickened. Add broccoli; cook for 3-5 minutes. Stir in cottage cheese.
In a 13-in x 9-in x 2in baking dish, coated with nonstick cooking spray, layer 3 cooked noodles and 1/2 of the sauce. Repeat for the next layer. Cover and bake at 350 degrees for 35-40 minutes. or untl bubbly and broccoli is tender. . Bake uncovered 5 minutes longer. Let stand 10 minutes before cutting. Yields 8 servings.

  • Thought it was bland as well. It has a great foundation but needs more. I added cheese but I think slices of tomato on top with cheese melted on top would be a nice touch. The pp I agree with about adding more herbs. Otherwise not a bad dish, just needs something else.. - 2/6/10

  • Great concept but a little bland...

    I would add TONS of spices (I havent figured out which ones yet) but for sure some garlic salt... I used low fat ricotta instead of cottage cheese (because I despise that stuff lol)...
