    500g good quality beef, lamb or pork mince
    500g good quality Italian sausages, squeezed from skins
    1 red onion, finely diced
    1 Granny Smith applice, grated
    1 handful herbs to taste
    1 cup grainy breadcrumbs
    1 egg
    1 tsp curry powder
    Salt & pepper to taste
    1/2 cup tomato sauce
    1/2 cup Worcestershire sauce
    1/2 cup brown sugar
    2 Tbl malt vinegar
    2 Tbl lemon juice
    1 Tbl butter
    1 tsp instant coffee granules


Mix the first nine ingredients together with met hands and push into a loaf tin (13cm x 24cm).

Put the last (liquid) ingredients over the meat loaf and cook for 1 1/2 hours at 170C.

Lift the meatloaf onto a serving platter and pour any residual sauce into a small jug. Service with mash, whole roasted vine tomatoes and winter greens.
